Teeming with the energy and grit of pre-Giuliani Manhattan, Blonde Redhead’s long out-of-print early recordings have finally crawled their way out of the '90s basement. Weighing in at 37 tracks, Masculin Féminin compiles the band’s first two albums for Steve Shelley’s Smells Like Records, their period singles, extant demos, and radio performances onto four albums. Dozens of previously unpublished photographs illustrate two lengthy essays on this essential New York band’s formative years.

Magic in its purest form. I love Floating Points, I love Pharoah Sanders, I love The London Symphony Orchestra. It's a match made in heaven, and the result is absolutely gorgeous. I have loved this record since its release, and realized I don't own it for some reason. So its time to change that. 9.5/10 honestly could become a 10/10 on an indepth vinyl relisten. angrypizza98

After being a bit underwhelmed by LYSFLATH! and God's Pee, my expectations were low going in on this record, which probably really helped my enjoyement! While the other 2 records were also pretty good, I was just let down by the expectations that other people have built especially around the first one. But Luciferian Towers is so powerful and uplifting, really diverse in its rhythms and instrumentation. Also much more melody and a more sensible amount of repetition than on the other 2 records minisculebarber
